Launch List: The Best New Beauty Products in December featured image

Hundreds of products come across our desks every month, but not all of them deliver on their claims or live up to the hype. (Not everything that goes viral on TikTok is a miracle worker.) This is our exclusive curation of the best-in-class beauty products receiving rave reviews from our team and hitting shelves right now. From Dr. Althea’s new PDRN cream (one of K-beauty’s hottest brands right now) to Sol de Janeiro’s new rosy-scented body cream, we’ve got the inside scoop on all the newness. And did we mention that everything on this list makes a great holiday gift?

The Best New Beauty Products This Month

eos Cashmere Body Mist ($13 each)

According to our friends at eos, the brand has received more than 10,000 DMs, mentions and comments asking for a body mist in the past year alone, so this launch was a no-brainer. Though the Vanilla Cashmere scent has been available since October (and a few yummy, limited-edition holiday scents), but this month marks big news. Now, you can get the in-demand body mist in eight of the brand’s most beloved scents: Strawberry Dream, Crème de Pistachio, Pink Champagne, Fresh & Cozy, Coconut Waters, Jasmine Peach, Pomegranate Raspberry and of course, Vanilla Cashmere. They’re perfect for layering (I personally love Vanilla Cashmere and Strawberry Dream).

“With our Cashmere Body Mists, we wanted a fragrance that feels incredible and cares for the skin,” says Jamie Sachs, vice president of product marketing and customer innovation at eos. “By infusing the formula with hyaluronic acid and aloe, we ensured the mist stays hydrating and never harsh, while still delivering a dimensional, long-lasting scent that’s unmistakably eos.” Happy spritzing!

Dr. Althea PDRN Reju 5000 Cream ($29)

Dr. Althea is one of the hottest brands in K-beauty right now, and this new cream offers 5,000 ppm of PDRN derived from probiotics (a sustainable alternative to the traditional ingredient from salmon). Designed to soothe irritation and firm the skin simultaneously, this is a great option for those with mature skin who are also on the sensitive or reactive side.

L’Oréal Paris Hyaluron Tint Lip Stain Serum ($14)

Forget the super drying lip stains of the past. This one is nourishing thanks to its serum-like formula that “instantly provides an 80-percent increase in lip hydration,” according to the brand. Available in eight shades, it can also be used on your cheeks, and the stain lasts up to 12 hours. Once the shiny layer wears off and the tint settles in, you can also reapply another layer for a bolder look.

CeraVe Oil Control Balancing Shampoo ($11)

Developed in partnership with dermatologists, this fragrance-free, pH-balanced shampoo utilizes zinc PCA to “instantly remove excess oil,” providing 72 hours of oil control. But, it does this without stripping the scalp by employing the brand’s signature ceramides and hydrating hyaluronic acid to keep the scalp barrier happy.

The Skinny Confidential Face Towels ($24)

Of course founder Lauryn Bosstick saw an opportunity to take a boring (yet incredibly useful) disposable face towel and make it fancy. Made from 100-percent sustainable bamboo, these biodegradable, doily-shaped towels are the product you never knew you needed. Use them to remove makeup, sunscreen, mascara, masks—you name it. Consider this your calling to throw out your bacteria-ridden wash cloth and embrace the face towel trend for healthier, clearer skin.

Tilt Beauty The Easy Way Hydrating Satin Lipstick ($28)

For those who love the look of lipstick, but don’t like the drying effect, this new launch is for you. It’s super hydrating thanks to ceramides, hyaluronic acid and colloidal oatmeal (an ingredient we don’t typically see in lipstick), which keeps lips comfortable and helps prevent feathering.

It’s fragrance-free and comes in eight shades with a satin finish, and we love the brand’s signature, ergonomic grippy packaging, which makes it easier to apply. In fact, this is the first lipstick to receive the Arthritis Foundation’s Ease of Use certification, making it a great option for those with arthritis and chronic pain.

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Hydrating Pillow Pads ($39)

Don’t the words “pillow pads” just draw you in, especially if you have sensitive skin? These pre-soaked, fragrance-free “treatment-meets-toner pads” are a great extra step in a nighttime routine for anyone with dry, sensitive or irritated skin. While you sleep, they deliver soothing colloidal oatmeal and cica, as well as barrier-boosting ceramides and squalane, so you wake up with softer, smoother skin that’s noticeably more hydrated and comfortable.

Sol de Janeiro Rosa Charmosa Dewy Cream ($48, Launching 12/17)

Joining the brand’s wildly popular body-care portfolio is this hydrating, peptide-packed cream with the same whipped texture customers love, but the scent is a new direction for SDJ. “We gave rose a Brazilian soul,” says Heela Yang, cofounder and CEO. “It is luminous, joyful and alive. Rosa Charmosa is are about treating your body with the same intention you give your face, because confidence should feel effortless.”

Master perfumer Jérôme Epinette created the new scent with the brand (he’s also the nose behind five of the best-selling Fragrance Mists). “When I think of this fragrance, I envision delicate rose petals dusted in sparkling sugar—something both luminous and edible,” he says. “It bridges the floral and gourmand worlds, resulting in the most addictive rose I’ve ever smelled. There’s truly nothing like it on the market.”

The latest from Jonathan Van Ness’s high-performance hair-care brand, this flexible, buildable hairspray disperses a superfine mist that coats every strand without leaving behind a yucky residue or drying out the hair. “I never want to create just to do it,” said the founder on Instagram. “Our products have to bring something innovative and performance-based. We were perfecting this formula since 2023! The science here, you guys: it’s powered by quinoa protein and frizz-fighting polymers, and it keeps hair strong and styles locked in. Stripes Beauty Rich & Tight Hydrating & Firming Body Butter ($68)

“This is a beautiful, hydrating body cream,” says actress and brand founder Naomi Watts. “I hit perimenopause at 36—didn’t know anything about it—and I certainly didn’t know that skin was going to be a problem. We created a skin-care line, from scalp to vag, so you could target those dry areas with really specific ingredients. It firms your skin while it hydrates, and it smells freaking delicious. As we get older, we deserve to look and feel amazing, because why? We’ve earned it.”

The nongreasy formula includes botanical extracts, peptides, ceramides and the brand’s signature duo of squalane and ectoin, which all work together to firm lax skin, replenish moisture and support the skin barrier.

Patrick Ta Beauty Major Moisture Smoothing Lip Balm ($25)

Though it’s no secret the industry is oversaturated with lip balms, we’re not mad at this new addition. Packed with plumping peptides and smoothing bakuchiol, this cushiony lip balm is destined to be a new favorite. The texture and scents are dreamy, the shine is gorgeous and the shades are very wearable for all skin tones.

“I have tried every single lip balm out there and nothing compares to these,” says Ta. “I’m so excited about this launch. I designed all of these with these amazing, gourmand scents, and when you apply these, they’re so delicious—you honestly just want to eat them. Lip balm is definitely that comfort product for me. These are so hydrating, they smooth out your lips and they have the perfect amount of tint to them. The formula is thick and locks in moisture. There are six shades, and I think Cookie Butter is going to be a fan favorite.”

Nexxus KERAPHIX Repair Liquid Crystallizer ($30)

Whether you’ve bleached your hair or you’ve gone a little overboard with the heat styling lately, this “liquid crystallizer” helps rebuild the disulfide bonds in your hair while filling gaps in the cuticle and strengthening the hair at its core.

“This is your forgiveness in a bottle after damaging your hair,” says Beth Labreque, principal scientist at Unilever. “It’s next-level bond repair built on 15 years of protein science. You can use it on damp or dry hair before other styling products, and you can use it every time you wash if you need to, without getting that nasty buildup. It makes your hair shiny, smooth and more resilient.”

Jouer Making Magic Ultra Foil Eyeshadow Palette ($42)

This multidimensional eyeshadow palette is absolutely stunning, especially for the holiday season. Featuring 12 foil-finish, metallic powder shades, it’s the easiest way to kick your eye makeup up a notch. Apply them as powder eyeshadow with a brush (they go on super silky), or use a liner brush to apply them as liner, which really makes the eyes pop (I love the plum shade—Mystic—for this, but they’re all gorgeous).
